"Children Of Some Of Your Leaders Live Abroad And They Have No Feelings For You" MR In Mullaitivu

December 18, 2014

President Mahinda Rajapaksa today said in Mullaitivu that the children of those leaders who tell stories to people do not even live in Sri Lanka.

Addressing an election rally in the area, the President said, “their children do not live here. They are studying abroad. They have no feelings for you.”

Commenting on the importance of the presidential election, President Rajapaksa said this would deicide a leader for the country for the next six years. He also added that the people in the North can exercise their democratic rights without any interference.

“I want you to join hands with me to develop your area, give a brighter future for your children” President Rajapaksa said.

“We cannot let history repeat in this country. Look at the present situation in Iraq, Libya and Egypt, we cannot allow this to happen in this country,” he said adding that the forthcoming presidential polls will make an impact on the political stability of the county.

“If we divide ourselves into religions and races, as a country we cannot go forward,” he also added.

The President stated that the government was in the process of systematically developing the Mullaitivu area. “Let's not go back to the dark era again.  Dark era lasted for nearlu30 years. Development has been achieved only in 5 years!” the President told the people of Mullaitivu.

“We made new recruitment for the State Service.  Today we have nearly 1.5 million in the Service and we will further strengthen the state sector in the future,” Rajapaksa explained.
