Samanmalee Sakalasuriya's Facebook Page Ruined By Comments On "Nudity"

December 19, 2014

Over 95 percent of the comments received by the official Facebook page of UPFA Provincial Councilor Samanmalee Sakalasuriya, over the past few days, are sarcastic responses to her statement on ‘nudity’.

At a recent press conference organized by the Women’s Association of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Sakalasuriya found herself in an embarrassing position when she tried to justify a controversial statement made by Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake over former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.

However, having realized that the young female Provincial Councilor had put her foot in the mouth, UPFA Gampaha District Parliamentarian Sudharshini Fernandopulle intervened and literally “rescued” Sakalasuriya, sating the Women’s Association of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party did not approve the Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake’s statement.

Neither the Provincial Councilor nor the administrator of her Facebook Page has taken measures to respond to sarcastic comments or to remove them from the page.

At this point, regardless of what she posts on her official Facebook page, the Provincial Councilor receives comments on ‘nudity’ and ‘removing clothes’ from hundreds of Facebook users.

Samanmalee Sakalasuriya, a graduate of the University of Kelaniya, is a daughter of former Parliamentarian Saddhathissa Sakalasuriya. She also plays a prominent role in the Youth Wing of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
