Ananda OBA Distances Itself From Press Ad Supporting MR

December 28, 2014

The Old Boys Association of Ananda College today distanced itself from the press advertisement which appeared on newspapers yesterday (27) supporting President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Speaking to Asian Mirror, Lalith Senanayake, President of the Old Boys Association said it had nothing to do with the advertisement and the College OBA never carried out an advertising campaign supporting any of the presidential candidates.

The advertisement, published by a group of Ananda College Old Boys Union (aadi shishya sansadaya), supports the candidature of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and endorses his famous claim on the "electric chair."

Speaking to Asian Mirror, a spokesman of the OBA said there were only two official organizations of which the old boys of the school are members - the Old Boys Association and the School Development Committee.

"We are not aware of any other organization" the spokesman added. Therefore, the identity of the new "old boys association" of Ananda College remains a mystery.
