'Government Is Using Even National Anthem For Propaganda' Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera

December 30, 2014

The government is using even the national anthem for election propaganda, the Convener of National Movement for Social Justice Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera stated. He added that this is enough reason to move an impeachment on the president according to the Constitution.

He made these comments speaking at a media briefing in Opposition Leader’s Office yesterday.

Sobitha Thera added that the people have to bear the cost of the government election propaganda. After nominations were filed, President Rajapaksa is just another candidate. But he is using state resources for the campaign. He travels to rallies in helicopters and sends vehicles from Colombo. There are a huge number of security officials. All these constitute expenses to the public, he argued.

He also said that state media was also public property but anybody can see how they are being used.
