'Controversial Foreign Secretary Kshenuka Seneviratne Holds Secret Meeting With President Sirisena!'

Controversial Foreign Secretary Kshenuka Seneviratne had secretly met President Maithripala Sirisena, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Provincial Council member Wasantha Samarasinghe alleged today.

Kshenuka Seneviratne, Former Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs, was guilty by government audit reports of impropriety in connection with the award of a contract for the renovation of the official residence of the Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka in Geneva in 2009.

It was widely believed that Seneviratne had a strong connection with Sajin Vaas Gunawardena, former Monitoring MP of the External Affairs Ministry. Seneviratne- Gunawardena nexus was instrumental in ousting former Sri Lankan High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Chris Nonis, from his position.

Samarasinghe said the JVP would lodge a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) with regard to the conduct of the controversial foreign secretary.

“No action has so far been taken against Seneviratne, who was the former Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We have received information that she has met new President Maithripala Siridsena. We will assure the public that we will not stop from here. We will make sure that there will be investigations into the conduct of corrupt officials,” Samarasinghe said, while taking part in the ‘Satana’ political talk show, on Sirasa TV.

Seneviratne was also seen when Ajith P Perera, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, assumed duties at the Ministry, a few days ago. However, Chithrangani Wageeswara has been appointed as the new Secretary of  the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the new government.
