'No Complaints On Serious Election Violence On Rajapaksa Supporters' : Police

Police has said that it has not received complaints of serious post-election violence against supporters of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa’s supporters.

Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana has told this to BBC Sandeshaya.

Mahinda Rajapaksa had earlier said that his supporters in Hambantota are being targeted in post-election violence. He also criticized the media silence on these attacks. He cited one incident where buses belonging to a supporter had been forcibly stopped and robbed.

Meanwhile, Police has searched the Carlton House in Tangalle on a tip-off that there was a Lamborghini car in the premises. A search warrant had been obtained from the Tangalle Magistrate’s Courts for this purpose.

However, no such vehicle has been found at Carlton House.
