Sri Lanka Freedom Party Central Working Committee decided to hand over the power to its Chairman, Secretary and National Organizer and Opposition Leader of Parliament to decide on the national government.

This decision was taken when the Central Working Committee met earlier in the evening. The Central Working Committee accepted the suggestion on the formation of a national government with only Former Minister Kumara Welgama opposing.

Accordingly, President Maithripala Sirisena, who is also the SLFP Chairman, SLFP General Secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, National Organizer Susil Premajayantha and Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala de Silva will be vested the power to decide on the formation of a national government.
