Committee Appointed To Probe Corruption In SLPA

The Government appointed a 4 member committee led by Presidents Counsel Nalin Ladduwahetty to investigate bribery and corruption within Sri Lanka Ports Authority.

Minister of Ports and shipping Arjuna Ranatunga recently stated that Sri Lanka Ports Authority is the most corrupt institution in the country. He had first thought it to be Sri Lanka Cricket, but SLPA is worse, he said.

Ranatunga assumed duties as minister in January. After assuming duties, he said that he has a responsibility to clean up the place.

CID started investigating into the assets of former SLPA Chairman Priyath Bandu Wickrama in February.
