Lynn, Finch Ruled Out Of T20Is Against Sri Lanka

September 05, 2016

Chris Lynn and Aaron Finch have been ruled out of Australia’s two-match Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka beginning in Pallekele on Tuesday (September 6).

Cricket Australia said on Sunday that while Lynn had suffered a shoulder injury during training, Finch fractured his right index finger while fielding during the fifth and final One-Day International, also in Pallekele, on Sunday.

Consequently, Matthew Wade will stay on in Sri Lanka as Lynn’s replacement while George Bailey, the man of the series during the ODIs, will be around for the first T20I before returning home.

“Aaron was hit on the right index finger when fielding a ball and subsequent x-rays have shown a fracture which means he will not be available for the remaining two T20 International matches,” said David Beakley, the team physiotherapist.

Finch did not open the batting in the final ODI as Australia successfully chased down 196 for a 4-1 series victory.

“Chris dislocated his left shoulder whilst diving during a fielding drill at training today,” Beakley added of Lynn’s injury. “Consequently he will be unavailable for the remaining matches and instead will return to Brisbane to undergo further investigation to determine the full extent of the injury.”

Finch, meanwhile, will stay with the squad to assist with 12th man duties for the remaining matches.
