Asian Rugby 7s Series: Hong Kong Proves Again That It Is Sri Lanka's Worst Nightmare

September 26, 2016

Hong Kong shut out Sri Lanka 36-0 in the final of the Asian Rugby Sevens Series tournament in South Korea, keeping Gareth Baber's men on course for a sweep of the three-event campaign.

The victory was the second in a row for Hong Kong after they romped to the title in the series opener at home. The demolition of the Sri Lankans came on the heels of a 29-0 win over China in the semi-finals.

"It says a lot about your attitude, values and work ethic when you're able to do that," Baber said of the back-to- back shutout wins in the knockout stage in Incheon.

"It makes us feel quite proud. I think it shows that we have a lot of maturity in the squad."

Hong Kong now have 24 points, four ahead of Sri Lanka. China and South Korea are on 12.

Perennial contenders Japan finished seventh after losing four times over the weekend.
