Sri Lanka Beat Pakistan To Lift West Asia Baseball Cup

Sri Lanka have defeated the defending champions Pakistan 4-2 in final of 13th West Asia Baseball Cup and won the tournament, reported Roznama Dunya on Thursday.

The match was played in Islamabad at Pakistan Sports Complex.

Pakistan remained unbeaten throughout the tournament but could not get over the line in final.

Pakistan Captain Sumair Zawar and Wasim Ali scored one run apiece. For Sri Lanka, Iresh, Sandun, Sameera and Asanka recorded one run each.

Lieutenant General (retired) Syed Arif Hassan was chief guest of the event who presented trophy to winning team and medals to players. Higher officials of Pakistan Federation Baseball (PFB) and other dignitaries accompanied him on the occasion.

Earlier, Iran thrashed Nepal 10-6 to secure third position in the tournament. Nima, Iman and Davood scored two runs apiece for Iran, while one run each was registered by Ali Godorgi, Majid, Mojtuba and Yasin.

For Nepal, Achit Karki, Sukhrim Thampa, Dinesh Singh, Milan Thapa, Man Kumar and Binod Koirala scored one run each. (DN)
