Thilina Kandamby Recalled To Sri Lanka Squad

November 24, 2014

Thilina Kandamby, the 32-year old batsman, will hope to end a three-year hiatus from ODIs after he was named in the Sri Lanka squad for the first three matches against England. Seamer Nuwan Kulasekara and wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Chandimal have been excluded from the 15-member side.

There were happier tidings for offspinner Dilruwan Perera, who broke back into the 50-over side after last playing in February 2008. Allrounder Jeevan Mendis is also making a comeback after a year away from the side giving Sri Lanka's bowling attack a rather newish look. Rangana Herath has returned after being rested for the India series to lead the spin department, while Shaminda Eranga, Dhammika Prasad and Lahiru Gamage are the frontline seamers.

Sri Lanka squad: Angelo Mathews (capt), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kusal Perera, Kumar Sangakkara (wk), Mahela Jayawardena, Lahiru Thirimanne, Jeevan Mendis, Thilina Kandamby, Rangana Herath, Dilruwan Perera, Ajantha Mendis, Shaminda Eranga, Dhammika Prasad, Thisara Perera, Lahiru Gamage.
