Khuram Shaikh Murder: Hotel Manager Fires Salvo At Tangalle Magistrate Court

Revealing a startling deficiency which alleged to have taken place at the magisterial inquiry into the killing of British national Khuram Shaikh, Tangalle Nature Resort manageress today (23) told Colombo High Court that her statement recorded during the inquest at the Tangalle Magistrate’s Court was not read back to her.

President’s Counsel Jayantha Weerasinghe who appeared for the first accused had asked the witness why she didn’t make any statement about the Russian girlfriend of the slain tourist at the magisterial inquest.

Hotel Manageress Tharanga Pieris, one of the key witnesses in the case, in response to the query made by defence counsel told that she could not remember the facts recorded at the magisterial inquest since the seven page lengthy statement was not read back to her.
