In a major turn of events, two suspects, who have been arrested in connection with the disappearance of Prageeth Eknaligoda, has indicated the 'authority' which gave ordered to abduct the journalist, Police headquarters sources told Asian Mirror.
Police sources added that the investigation reached a breakthrough with the suspects indicted the 'authority' which initiated the abduction. The suspects have been subjected to lengthy interrogations by the CID team handling investigations.
More than ten members of the Army intelligence wing have been arrested in connection with the disappearance of the journalist, who was abducted in Rajapagiriya, two days before the Presidential election in 2010. The suspects are being heavily backed by the former President and the group supporting him.
Rajapaksa even visited the Welikada prison last week to meet the suspects who have been arrested over the incident.
The CID has already found evidence to suggest that the journalist was abducted in Colombo, and later taken to Girithale Army camp. He had been detained at the army camp for several days and the intelligence wing members had questioned him over a booklet titled 'family tree' and his alleged connections with former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka.
