In a major move, the University of Colombo Department of History decided to open the lectures of the Certificate Course of History to the general public free of charge.

This decision was revealed to the public by Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Dewasiri on his Facebook page last evening.

He also added that he will provide more details once the timetable has been finalized.

Free public lectures have been a part of the university systems in some countries but has been virtually unknown in Sri Lanka.
