The Parliamentary Group of The United National Party will today decide on the future of the ‘Gaveshana Charika’ programme under which parliamentarians of the party visit various state sector institutions to monitor their progress.

Speaking to Asian Mirror UNP Parliamentarian Ajith P Perera, who heads the ‘Gaveshana Charika’ programme said the parliamentary group of the party would decide today whether they should visit the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery again.

“Sometimes we might visit the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery again, sometimes we might select another institution to visit. It all depends on the decision made by the parliamentary group of the party”, he said

The MP delegation who visited the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery were sent back by protestors who raised opposition over the visit by representatives of the UNP. The protestors claimed they were members of a trade union.

When asked about the state sector institutions they were planning to visit, Perera said the party would treat that as a confidential matter.

“However, we are planning to visit several key state sector institutions that are of importance to the general public in their day to day affairs. Also we will look into the largescale development projects carried out by the government.

The UNP, under the ‘Gaveshan Charika’ project, has so far visited the Mattala Indternational Airport, Hambantota International Port, Norochchole Coal Power plant, zoological Garden of Dehiwala, Nagoda Hospital in Kalutara and the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery.
