The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has taken steps suspended a current account and a fixed deposit account belonging to former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, totaling approximately Rs. 20 million.

The accounts were frozen for seven days as part of an investigation under the Anti-Corruption Act, with the suspension likely to be extended upon court approval.

This comes amidst broader investigations into Rambukwella’s assets.

On 5 July 2024, the Colombo High Court ordered a three-month freeze on fixed deposits and insurance policies valued at Rs. 97.125 million, belonging to Rambukwella’s wife, three daughters, and son-in-law. That order was later extended until 4 January 2025.
