The Supreme Court has announced that its verdict on the fundamental rights petitions seeking a re-conduct of the 2024 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination will be delivered on 31 December 2024.

The petitions, filed by a group of students and their parents, were heard over three days by a bench comprising Justices Yasantha Kodagoda, Kumudini Wickremasinghe, and Arjuna Obeysekera. Oral submissions concluded this evening (18), with written submissions to be submitted by 9.00 a.m. tomorrow (19).

Earlier in the day, the court directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to submit a comprehensive report by tomorrow morning on its investigation into the alleged leaking of three questions from the examination’s first paper.
