Another suspect has been arrested in connection with the discovery of a large haul of crystal methamphetamine (“ice”) in the Kirinda–Andagala coastal area, police said today (12).

Along with the suspect, six luxury vehicles were also taken into custody.

Police said the consignment is believed to belong to a drug trafficker currently based in Dubai, and that investigations are underway to trace his local network.

Preliminary inquiries have revealed that the stock of ice drugs was smuggled into Sri Lanka via sea routes. However, details of the vessel used to transport the consignment have not yet been confirmed.

Police have so far arrested seven suspects in connection with about 350-kilogram drug haul.
