The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has recorded the highest tax revenue collection in its history, surpassing the Rs. 2 trillion mark this year.
As of 17 November, the IRD has collected approximately Rs. 2,002 billion, according to official figures. The department collected Rs. 1,942,162 million in 2024, and this year’s revenue has increased by Rs. 60,079 million.
Commissioner General R. P. H. Fernando said the IRD’s performance has made a significant contribution towards strengthening the government’s financial position, with total tax collection now exceeding Rs. 2,002 billion.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Customs announced last week that it has exceeded its revenue target for 2025, generating Rs. 2,117.2 billion as of 12 November, surpassing the annual target of Rs. 2,115 billion.
