The death toll from earthslips and landslides reported at seven locations in the Badulla District amid prevailing adverse weather has risen to 11.

Badulla District Secretary Panduka Abeywardena said seven more individuals remain missing.

He said several landslides and earthslips were reported across many parts of the district due to the severe weather experienced yesterday, 26 November. Relief teams continue operations to locate the missing.

Meanwhile, Level-3 (Red) landslide evacuation warnings have been issued for multiple areas in the Badulla, Kandy, Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts by the National Building and Research Organisation (NBRO).

The NBRO said the warnings will remain in effect until 8.30 p.m. today.
