Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook has announced that the company will donate towards relief and rebuilding efforts in several Asian countries, including Sri Lanka, following recent floods, landslides and severe winds.
Cook said storms across Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka had devastated communities, adding that Apple’s thoughts were with those affected.
Recent extreme rainfall across the region has reportedly killed more than 1,300 people and displaced or impacted millions more.
Apple has pledged financial assistance for ongoing relief and reconstruction efforts, although the exact amount has not been disclosed.
Cook made the announcement earlier today on X.
Apple also operates an internal donation scheme, Employee Giving, which has so far raised more than US$880 million through its donation-matching programme.
