The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has extended landslide warnings based on the current ground situation and weather forecasts. Consequently, Level 3 Red notices urging evacuation have been issued to 40 Divisional Secretariat divisions across four districts.

NBRO Senior Geologist Wasantha Senadeera stated that many houses in these areas have been monitored, and homeowners have been provided with reports regarding the risk status. He emphasised that individuals must be more vigilant. Senadeera noted that while the entire Divisional Secretariat division is not considered dangerous, there are safe locations within them. He urged those whose homes are located near slopes to be extremely careful, particularly if an increase in rainfall is observed, as living near mountains carries an inherent risk.

Data indicates that 458 deaths have been reported due to landslides. Additionally, 698 incidents of cutting failures and landslides, along with 37 rockfalls, have been recorded. Meanwhile, Level 2 Amber alerts advising the public to be watchful remain effective for 32 Divisional Secretariat divisions in five districts, while Level 1 Yellow alerts requiring vigilance are in place for 17 divisions across three districts.
