The Attorney General informed the Colombo High Court today (10 December 2025) that Daisy Forrest, the great aunt of Yoshitha Rajapaksa, is scheduled to be examined by the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer tomorrow (11 December 2025) to determine if she possesses the mental stability required to appear for legal proceedings. Forest is currently facing charges under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

State Counsel Oswald Perera made this notification when the case was called before Colombo High Court Judge Rashmi Singappuli. The case was taken up today (10) to consider proposed admissions. However, Perera informed the court that a related case involving the defendants is currently being heard in High Court Court No. 8. He stated that during the hearing of that parallel case, the lawyer representing Forest had informed the court that she was not in a suitable mental state to face a trial.

Consequently, an order was issued to obtain a specialist medical report via the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer to verify her condition. Perera confirmed that Daisy Forrest is scheduled to appear for this examination tomorrow in accordance with the court order. He further noted that the prosecution would decide on the matter of Daisy Forrest’s fitness to stand trial once the medical report is submitted and requested the case be postponed until the report is received.

Considering the submissions, Judge Singappuli ordered the case to be recalled on 9 February 2026. The Attorney General filed this case accusing the defendants of committing an offence under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act by depositing over 59 million rupees, allegedly earned illegally between 31 March 2009 and 12 December 2013, in fixed deposit accounts across three banks.
