Sri Lanka has recorded its highest-ever annual tourist arrivals, with the arrival of the 2,333,797th visitor for 2025 at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake, officially surpassing the previous all-time record.

The earlier record was set in 2018, when the island welcomed 2,333,796 tourists over the entire year.

An Indian national travelling from Thiruvananthapuram to Katunayake on SriLankan Airlines flight UL 162 marked the milestone. He became the 2,333,797th tourist to arrive in the country this year.
