The Colombo High Court today issued a warrant for the arrest of former Minister Wimal Weerawansa for failing to appear in a case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over the alleged unlawful acquisition of assets valued at over Rs. 75 million.

The order was issued by High Court Judge Mohamed Mihal.

The Court also instructed that notices be issued to Weerawansa’s sureties, directing them to appear before the Court on the next hearing date.
