The Colombo High Court today (14) recalled the arrest warrant issued against former Minister Wimal Weerawansa after he appeared before court through his legal counsel.
The case, filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), pertains to allegations of unlawfully acquiring assets valued at over Rs. 75 million. When the matter was taken up this morning, the defendant was not present in court, prompting High Court Judge Mohamed Mihal to issue a warrant for his arrest and production.
Subsequently, Weerawansa was represented before court by his attorneys, upon which the judge ordered that the arrest warrant be withdrawn.
