Ven. Balangoda Kassapa Thera, who is currently held at the Trincomalee Prison, has reportedly ended the hunger strike he commenced earlier, Lankadeepa reported yesterday (15).

According to reports, the decision to call off the fast was reached following a discussion between the Thera and the Chief Incumbent of the Pallebadda Arisimale Forest Hermitage, Ven. Panamure Thilakawansa Thera, who visited the prison for talks yesterday (15), after Kassapa Thera started the hunger protest.

Prison officials are said to have provided gilampasa as a symbol of the Thera ending the strike.
