The Constitutional Council today unanimously approved the appointment of Senior Deputy Auditor General L.S.I. Jayaratne as the Auditor General of Sri Lanka.

The Council met at 12.00 noon today (3) at the Parliament Complex, chaired by Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne. During the meeting, members considered the names submitted by the President for the post and reached a final decision following several days of deliberation.

The position of Auditor General has remained vacant since 8 April 2025, after the retirement of W.P.C. Wickramaratne. Thereafter, Dharmapala Gammanpila, a senior official of the Auditor General’s Department, served in an acting capacity until the conclusion of his term on 5 December 2025.
