President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will travel to New Delhi next week to participate in the India-AI Impact Summit 2026, at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The summit, scheduled to be held from 16–20 February, will bring together global leaders, policymakers and innovators to deliberate on Artificial Intelligence under the themes of “People, Planet and Progress.”
This will mark President Dissanayake’s second official visit to India since assuming office, following his State visit in December 2024. His participation is expected to further strengthen bilateral engagement between Sri Lanka and India, particularly in the areas of digital innovation and regional cooperation in emerging technologies.
Among the world leaders expected to attend are French President Emmanuel Macron, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Spanish President Pedro Sanchez. Delegations from more than 45 countries, along with the UN Secretary-General and senior representatives of international organisations, are also expected to take part in the deliberations.
For Sri Lanka, the President’s presence at the summit signals Colombo’s growing focus on digital transformation and its intent to contribute to regional dialogue on the governance and development of Artificial Intelligence.
