The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance socio-economic development and bilateral cooperation between India and Sri Lanka.

Presented by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the initiative will channel Rs. 2,371 million into 33 development projects in the Eastern Province, focusing on education, health, agriculture, irrigation, tourism, and community empowerment.

Specific allocations include Rs. 315 million for education, Rs. 780 million for health, Rs. 620 million for agriculture, and Rs. 230 million for fisheries, aiming to improve infrastructure and foster economic and social empowerment in the region.
