Cabinet Spokesman Nalinda Jayathissa stated that no restrictions have been imposed on government MPs speaking to the media by the National People’s Power (NPP).

This clarification followed a post on X by YouTube personality Kishani Alanki Perera, who claimed that when she contacted Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara for an interview, he told her he needed party permission.

When a journalist raised this during the weekly Cabinet media briefing today (24 December), Jayathissa clarified, “Our MPs are free to express their opinions. However, I believe the process should be streamlined.”

He emphasized that the weekly Cabinet media briefing serves as the platform for communicating decisions, adding, “Ministers share updates through their ministries as part of the procedure. Any limitations are due to time constraints, not restrictions.”
