The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has decided to withdraw from activities at ‘Arogya’ Primary Healthcare Centres from next Monday, in line with the trade union action currently under way.

GMOA Secretary Dr. Prabath Attanayake said that around 50 such clinics, established under a concept introduced by the Health Minister, are currently in operation. He alleged that the clinics were based on political objectives.

Dr. Attanayake further noted that the decision to withhold support was taken at a time when the primary healthcare sector is already grappling with staff shortages, raising concerns over the continuity of services.
