The Government is reportedly giving special attention to a proposal to introduce a four-day work week as a possible measure to address the ongoing fuel crisis, Lankadeepa reported.

A special discussion chaired by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is scheduled to take place at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon (16) to reach a final decision on the matter.

Heads of Government institutions have been informed to attend the meeting.

When contacted last night, Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government Professor Chandana Abayarathna said that the proposal for a four-day work week, along with several other proposals, was currently under consideration.

Proposals related to fuel distribution are also expected to be discussed during the meeting.
