Iran’s military has dismissed claims by US President Donald Trump that negotiations are underway, vowing instead to continue its military operations.
US media reports, citing unnamed officials, stated that Washington has presented a 15-point proposal aimed at ending the conflict, with the plan reportedly conveyed to Iran through intermediaries in Pakistan.
According to sources familiar with the proposal, Pakistan has also offered to host renewed negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
The The New York Times was the first to report that the plan had been delivered to Iranian officials.
Meanwhile, the US is preparing to expand its military presence in the Middle East. The Trump administration is reportedly considering calling up at least 1,000 additional troops to reinforce the approximately 50,000 personnel already stationed in the region.
The Pentagon is also in the process of deploying two Marine units, which are expected to add around 5,000 Marines and thousands of sailors to the region, signalling a potential escalation alongside diplomatic efforts. (Agencies)
