The National People’s Power (NPP) Government has not engaged in any form of fraud or corruption in the coal procurement process, NPP Parliamentarian Chandana Suriyaarachchi said.
Speaking to the media, he stated that the current Government was carrying out the procurement process in a clear and transparent manner.
However, he revealed that recent shipments of coal imported to Sri Lanka had been found to contain calorific values lower than the approved standard.
Suriyaarachchi further said that relevant reports on the matter had been called for, and that the Government was already taking necessary steps based on the findings to address the issue.
