SLPP ally and university lecturer Mahinda Pathirana has expressed strong criticism of the investigations being conducted by several institutions, including the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), into the circumstances surrounding Yoshitha Rajapaksa’s recruitment to the Sri Lanka Navy.
Commenting on the ongoing probes, Pathirana argued that Yoshitha Rajapaksa was facing scrutiny because he chose to join the armed forces and serve the country.
He further claimed that if Yoshitha Rajapaksa had, instead, joined the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), no individual or institution would be making allegations against him today.
