Another inmate who had been receiving treatment in hospital after being injured in the clashes at the Negombo Prison has died.
With the latest death, the death toll from the prison violence has risen to 27.
Although authorities had brought the situation under control following the initial clash at the Negombo Prison on July 5, unrest erupted again inside the prison yesterday (July 6).
The violence is reported to have broken out between a group of remand prisoners and a group of convicted inmates.
