Prasad Siriwardana, a Member of Parliament from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, claimed that the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) had, over the past six decades, been the only political group that sought to undermine the country whenever a new government came to power.

Addressing an SJB public meeting in Mawanella, Siriwardana alleged that Ashoka Ranwala was responsible for completely derailing the organic fertiliser project introduced by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa during the 2022 fertiliser crisis.

He claimed that Gotabaya Rajapaksa himself had acknowledged that the entire organic fertiliser project had been entrusted to Ranwala under his administration. According to Siriwardana, the former President had also stated that although Ranwala had participated in discussions on behalf of his own company, he only realised much later that Ranwala was affiliated with the JVP.

Siriwardana further alleged that Ranwala was the individual chiefly responsible for the failure of the organic fertiliser project. He also claimed that two websites created in connection with the project later disappeared, and alleged that Ranwala was rewarded with the post of Speaker in return for his role in what he described as a conspiracy.
