The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court has directed that a reminder be sent to the Government Analyst’s Department to expedite the submission of forensic reports on unidentified drugs recovered from the scene where former SriLankan Airlines Chief Executive Officer Kapila Chandrasena was found dead.
The order was made by Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena on Wednesday (July 8) when the magisterial inquiry into Chandrasena’s death was taken up.
Officers of the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) informed court that several unidentified drugs recovered from the scene had been sent to the Government Analyst for examination, but the reports had not yet been received.
Police also told court that the post-mortem examination report had not yet been submitted.
Having considered the submissions, the Magistrate ordered that a reminder be sent to the Government Analyst’s Department to submit the pending forensic reports on the unidentified drugs.
The court also directed that a reminder be issued to the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer’s Office requesting the submission of the post-mortem report.
The inquiry was postponed until July 22 to review the progress of the investigation.
Former SriLankan Airlines CEO Kapila Chandrasena was found dead on May 8 at the residence of former Sri Lankan cricketer Aravinda de Silva in Kollupitiya.
