S.B. Dissanayake’s Brother Arrested Over Alleged Liquor Licence Fraud

Former Provincial Councillor Jayalath Bandara Dissanayake, the brother of former Minister S.B. Dissanayake, has been arrested over an alleged financial fraud involving Rs. 27.5 million, police said.

The arrest followed a complaint lodged with the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), alleging that the suspect had obtained Rs. 27.5 million from a resident of Weeraketiya after claiming he could secure a liquor licence.

Following the complaint, the Financial and Commercial Crimes Investigation Division of the CCIB launched an investigation, which led to Dissanayake’s arrest in Hanguranketha on Monday (14).

The 58-year-old suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court today (15).

Further investigations are being carried out by the Central Crime Investigation Bureau.
