SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa has accused the government of acting as though the Easter Sunday bomber was a member of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
He made the remarks while addressing a public meeting on Monday (10).
Rajapaksa said the government, on one hand, portrays former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as a racist, while on the other, it claims that several Muslims became bombers in order to bring him to power.
He said the two narratives were contradictory and alleged that such statements were being made to create divisions among the public.
Rajapaksa further said the SLPP had now evolved into a renewed political movement. He claimed that although the government had attempted in the past to portray the political movement he represents as racist, that characterisation was inaccurate.
