A 16-year-old student from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly gang-raped by the driver and conductor of a moving sleeper bus after boarding the vehicle during heavy rain in Greater Noida. The police confirmed that the two accused have been arrested.

The incident occurred on the night of 4 August 2026. The victim, a Class 11 student, had left her home following a disagreement with her family over her studies and was travelling to stay with her cousin in Sector 63, Noida. Due to darkness and heavy rain, she accidentally got off at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida.

Stranded at the roadside, she flagged down an empty sleeper bus. The bus conductor, identified as Sandeep, along with the driver, Kuldeep, misled the teenager by promising to drop her off at Noida Sector 63. Shortly after she boarded, the vehicle moved towards Delhi, and both men sexually assaulted her while threatening her life if she resisted. Curtains drawn around the sleeper berths obscured the interior from outside view.

The bus travelled approximately 47 kilometres, crossing the border into Delhi via the Greater Noida Expressway and Ring Road, before the accused abandoned the teenager near the Kashmere Gate Inter-State Bus Terminal in the early hours.

The teenager approached the Kashmere Gate police station to report the crime. Delhi Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. By tracking CCTV footage along the route, officers located the bus within four hours and arrested both suspects at a parking area in Timarpur. Forensic teams have seized the vehicle to gather evidence.

The investigation revealed that the bus had recently undergone repairs at a workshop in Surajpur and was being driven empty to Timarpur when the driver and conductor spotted the girl. Following medical procedures and production before the Child Welfare Committee, the victim was handed over to her parents. Further investigations into the incident remain underway.
