MP Namal Rajapaksa, who is currently in remand custody, is expected to attend the parliamentary sitting today (08).
Rajapaksa, the National Organiser of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), made a written request to Secretary-General of Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera yesterday (07), seeking the necessary arrangements to attend the upcoming parliamentary sittings.
Following the request, the Secretary-General wrote to the Commissioner of Prisons, instructing that the necessary arrangements be made to facilitate Rajapaksa’s attendance in Parliament.
Accordingly, Rajapaksa is expected to be brought to Parliament from remand custody to attend today’s sitting.
Parliament is scheduled to meet from today until September 11.
