Investigators probing the murder of rugby player Wasim Thajudeen have reportedly found information suggesting that three double-cab vehicles linked to the case were also used in other alleged crimes, Sunday Observer reported.
The vehicles, bearing registration numbers WP PD 79–, WP PD 80– and WP GB 05–, had been provided through the Presidential Secretariat for the security of then First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa and her son Yoshitha Rajapaksa. Investigators had previously identified information linking the vehicles to the Wasim Thajudeen case. They have also found missing running logs and other gaps in the vehicle records.
Investigators are examining whether the three vehicles were used by multiple parties in connection with other alleged crimes.
They have also examined five vehicles that entered the Presidential Secretariat on the night of 16 May 2012, when Thajudeen was found dead. Those vehicles bore registration numbers WP LV 05–, WP PD 13–, WP KA 98–, WP KD 01– and WP PA 72–. According to investigators, their running logs contain serious irregularities.
