The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has postponed the case involving Shashi Weerawansa, who was convicted and sentenced to imprisonment for possessing a forged diplomatic passport, until 12 October.
Weerawansa, who is currently out on bail, appeared before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama on Monday (28).
The court was informed that the Colombo High Court had upheld her prison sentence and that an appeal had subsequently been filed before the Supreme Court.
However, as the relevant Supreme Court journal entries had not been submitted, the Magistrate granted additional time for their submission and ordered that the case be taken up again on 12 October.
