MP Namal Rajapaksa criticized overcrowding and inadequate facilities in remand prisons while attending Parliament from remand custody.
“These prisons are like hell on earth. There are 300 people in a room meant for 20. There are no proper toilet facilities. There is severe overcrowding, but these conditions are not being looked into,” he said.
Rajapaksa also accused the Government of remanding innocent people to demonstrate that it was taking action.
