The Ministry of Education has empowered Provincial Education Secretaries and Provincial Directors of Education to decide whether schools in their respective areas should be temporarily closed due to adverse weather conditions.
The decision comes amid heavy rainfall across the country, which has raised concerns over possible disruptions to school activities in several areas.
According to the Ministry, provincial authorities must assess the prevailing disaster situation, potential flood risks and road obstructions before deciding whether schools should remain open or close temporarily.
The measure aims to ensure the safety of students and staff while allowing education authorities to make decisions based on local weather conditions and the feasibility of conducting school activities safely.
