Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe said that while cooperation between the United National Party (UNP) and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) could offer prospects of political victory, such a victory could not be achieved through traditional political methods.
He said political parties could no longer move forward using conventional approaches, stressing that the participation of the younger generation was essential to achieving political success.
“A new image and corresponding restructuring are needed. If we look at politics, global politics is changing. When I consider future voters, those aged 15 and 16 today will also be joining the electoral register,” Wickremesinghe said.
