Showers Expected Across Multiple Provinces with Strong Winds and Misty Conditions

The Meteorology Department forecasts showers or thundershowers in Eastern and Uva provinces and in Polonnaruwa, Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, and Hambantota districts. Fairly heavy showers exceeding 50mm are anticipated in Uva province and in Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, Ampara, and Hambantota districts.

Several spells of showers are expected in the Northern province and the Anuradhapura district, while showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere during the afternoon or night.

Winds of 30-40 kmph are likely over Northern, Eastern, North-central, and North-western provinces and in Matara, Monaragala, and Hambantota districts. Misty conditions are expected in Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts during the morning.

The public is urged to take precautions against localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
